ABOUT SGMW
SGMW was founded on November 18, 2002, as a joint venture between three shareholders: domestic partners SAIC Motor Corporation Limited and Liuzhou Wuling Motors Co. Limited, along with foreign partner GM China. Leveraging the resources of its shareholders, SGMW has introduced innovative business concepts and management practices, while maintaining a focus on low costs and high value.
This approach has driven the reorganization of business processes and the integration of resources, helping to build a strong, competitive value chain.
In addition to solidifying its leadership in the commercial vehicle sector, creating the seven-seat family vehicle segment, and advancing its passenger vehicle business, SGMW is also expanding its international presence. Beginning with India, the company has implemented its global strategy by exporting knowledge, products, human capital, management teams, and operational best practices.
SGMW’s island-based Lean and Intelligent Manufacturing (LIM) plant.
This next-generation facility brings together over 260 smart robots, automated guided vehicles (AGVs), and more than 50 fully digitalized processes to deliver a highly automated, flexible, and precise production system, making the plant a symbol of innovation and localization.
Each production island, from windshield assembly to tires and seats, is optimized for high precision, reliability, and adaptability, while guaranteeing consistency and quality at every step. The result: 20% higher production speed, 3 hours less lead time, and a 28% reduction in manufacturing costs, all while achieving 100% quality inspection success. This is how SGMW is shaping the future of intelligent automotive manufacturing.
