SGMW Unveils World’s First Modular Smart Factory, Redefining Car Manufacturing

SGMW, in partnership with Huawei, launched the world’s first modular assembly factory for Lean Intelligent Manufacturing (LIM), setting a global benchmark in automotive production. Replacing traditional assembly lines with flexible “production islands,” the new facility revolutionizes how electric vehicles are built, offering high efficiency, customization, and intelligent scheduling powered by advanced robotics and AI.

The factory boasts 31% lower production costs per vehicle, 98% chassis consistency, and a 0% assembly error rate. Huawei’s high-reliability network ensures seamless wireless connectivity for automated systems, including AGVs and mobile robots, while intelligent monitoring and real-time diagnostics eliminate downtime.

This pioneering effort highlights China’s accelerating digital transformation in manufacturing and positions SGMW as a leader in next-generation automotive innovation.
